Today Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs Kristian Jensen launched the new Denmark-Kenya Country Programme (970,5 million DKK). This week the Minister traveled around Kenya to meet with partners and projects in the fields of good governance, green growth and health, which are all key Danish focus development areas. The Country Programme covers three thematic areas: The Governance Programme objective is the implementation of the Constitution and consolidation of an accountable, inclusive, and participatory democracy based on increased stability. Support will focus on improved governance, democratic practices, human rights and efforts towards securing peace and stability. The Green Growth and Employment Programme emphasizes the need for businesses, governments, communities and civil society to come together in partnership to find common solutions to current environmental challenges. Support will be focused on stimulating growth, based on green solutions and to generate employment. Finally, the Health Programme provides support to the devolved health sector in the form of operational support for primary health care facilities and for health systems strengthening at county and national government levels as well as support for sexual and reproductive health and rights.
